My small but fine #collection of modern #retro #nerd #books is steadily growing. :)
Do you know any good ones I should add?
I would love to mention all the authors, but it seems like only @MossRC is on Mastodon?
@metalsnake @MossRC @mos_8502 oh yes. Loads.
@metalsnake @MossRC this is the best recent one. I believe there are non-kickstarter versions available.
@metalsnake @MossRC Console Wars. Masters of Doom.
@metalsnake @MossRC There was also a book released recently on the Apple II (and others).

@MossRC I don't know how much of the information in it is new. But feels like most of the book is artwork/concept art. Also it looks much bigger than it is. It just has thick paper. It's "only" ~290 pages.

@MossRC @metalsnake it’s definitely a hollywood story but it entertained me. Looking forward to the tv show.
@metalsnake @MossRC This one's pretty good, made by someone who really needs to get his arse over here. https://unbound.com/books/ashens/
@miah @metalsnake @MossRC I was going to add Microserfs as well Miah~!
Soul of the New Machine is a great one to add. Totally agree.
@metalsnake @MossRC Also this one! I feel it has went under the radar as one of software journey’s great books.
UNIX: A History and a Memoir - Brian Kernighan
Imagine That! - Ed Smith
(Smith designed the Imagination Machine, an early microcomputer. It is a very powerful memoir.)
Turing’s Cathedral - George Dyson
@metalsnake @MossRC "What the Dormouse Said" is a favorite of mine.
@metalsnake @MossRC Arcade Game Typography by Toshi Omagari
@metalsnake @MossRC how about The C Programming Language by Brian Kernighan and Dennis Ritchie?
@metalsnake
The Text Games book, if you can find a copy? @aaronareed
